Fonts


Guidelines
  • Use a serif face like Times New Roman or Georgia for body text and a sans serif face like Verdana or Arial as a contrast for headlines.
  • Don't use more than two fonts (one serif, one sans serif) on a page; if possible, use a single font.
Common useful fonts
Serif
  • Times New Roman: Very legible for printing; average legibility on a monitor.  Useful when when a lot of text has to be put in a small space.
  • Georgia: Very legible on monitors, but not well suited for printing.
Sans serif
  • Verdana: Very legible on monitors, but not well suited for printing.
  • Arial
  • Trebuchet
Fixed width
  • Monospace
  • Courier
Other fonts
Serif
  • Times Roman: Very legible for printing, but not well suited for monitors.
Sans serif
  • Helvetica
